Jesus: The Baptized One

At approximately the age of 27-30, Jesus is baptized by John in the River Jordan, thus beginning the public phase of His ministry.  We will focus upon the message that John preached, a message that challenged his listeners to turn from their sins and to be baptized into a new way of life.  Then we shall ponder the question: Why did Jesus need to be baptized?  After all, He was without sin.  Yet, Jesus knew that it was expedient for Him to be baptized.  Thus John acceded to the desires of Jesus.
