The Director of Worship Arts at Buffalo Covenant Church will utilize vocalists, musicians, actors, actresses and artists to create a culture of authentic worship, encouraging a body of believers in Jesus Christ to respond to who God is and what He has done. He or she will also champion his/her ministry as part of the larger mission of Buffalo Covenant Church:

To glorify God by being disciples, who make disciples of Jesus Christ.

A. Qualifications

  1. Possess a growing faith, a passion for Jesus Christ, a love for people, and a heart that desires to see God’s people become authentic worshippers of God.
  2. Experience and skill coordinating and working with musicians, vocalists, and building worship teams in both traditional choir and contemporary praise band.
  3. Skilled vocally and/or instrumentally and experienced in leading worship.
  4. Commitment to prayer and sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
  5. Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in an applicable major preferred.
  6. Interpersonal skills that include a positive attitude, high personal integrity, excellent communication, the ability to gain trust and respect, an ability to mediate differences and work well on a team.
  7. Experience with volunteer management, including recruitment, training and coaching.
  8. Understand and Endorse an effectiveness in a Faith@Home/D6 focused ministry.
  9. Support Buffalo Covenant Church’s Statement of Faith.
  10. Intentionally uphold and encourage Buffalo Covenant Church’s values:

    • LIVE the Word at home and in the community
    • SHARE the Word, through service and mission.
  11. Gifting: Leadership, Music, Administration, Encouragement.

B. Responsibilities

  1. Provide leadership to both styles of corporate worship: Traditional and Contemporary.
    • Including oversight and development of musicians, vocalists, worship leaders, sound team, media techs, ushers and communion servers.
  2. Cultivate a ministry that engages all aspects of the Arts to strengthen corporate worship.
    • Music, Drama, Video, Visual Arts, Spoken Word and additional creative elements.
  3. Assure worship is led by the Holy Spirit, designed to tell God’s story of salvation, support the theme be- ing expressed in each service in full agreement with BCC’s theology.
  4. Develop, plan, promote and oversee creative worship elements that include but are not limited to:
    • Drama performances, Generations Choir, night of worship, children and youth participation, School of Music, men’s and women’s groups, seasonal celebrations, funeral ministry, etc.
  5. Produce and communicate resources that will encourage families to worship throughout the week.
  6. Create and manage the Worship Arts ministry budget.

C. Relationships

  1. Reports to the Executive Director.
  2. Oversees all worship teams: praise band and choir: vocalists, musicians and supporting roles.
  3. Work collaboratively with all church staff.
