The Lead Pastor will guide, lead and protect the congregation and ministries as he shepherds the flock of Buffalo Covenant Church and seeks to fulfill and champion the mission to which God has called them to:

To glorify God by being disciples, who make disciples of Jesus Christ.

He will create vision and provide direction to all ministries as they build upon BCC’s core values:

  • Know the Word through worship and study.
  • Live the Word at home and in the community.
  • Share the Word through service and mission.

The qualifications and character of the Lead Pastor are outlined in God’s Word:

Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task. Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.

I Timothy 3:1-7

The reason I left you in Crete was that you might straighten out what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you. An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. Since an overseer is entrusted with God’s work, he must be blameless – not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

Titus 1:5-9

Buffalo Covenant Church is a welcoming place where multiple generations gather. BCC has a long his- tory of bringing the word of God into the everyday life of people through a multitude of ministries. Lo- cated approximately 30 miles west of the Twin Cities of Minnesota, BCC deeply embraces its long and fruitful 130-year history while continuing to look towards a vibrant future, as it has become the home for many new individuals and families.

The congregation is being challenged to take discipleship seriously, resulting in a very strong core of members committed to living out Christ’s purpose in their lives, their families, their community and be- yond. One of the emerging priorities at BCC is the commitment to equip the Christian family to win and train the next generation of Christ-followers, where the home is seen as the primary place where disci- pleship happens, with parents as the primary disciplers of their own children and grandchildren. It is the vision of BCC to bring families together around the Bible’s blueprint for the family, equip and train believers to live out their faith 24/7 at home, at school, at work and in the community.
