The Prophet Joel saw divine judgments that affected all Israel and their way of life. That is why he urged the people to repent. But these judgments were an illustration of something even greater to come. Instead of a great invading army of locusts, the Day of the LORD will bring the final battle between good and evil. At that time, Israel’s Remnant will see the wounds of their Pierced Messiah and the Holy Spirit will be poured out on the Remnant of Israel for their salvation. Joel’s Prophecy on the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, thus, has a short-range fulfillment (the Spirit’s infilling of Jesus’ Followers on the Day of Pentecost) and a long-range fulfillment (the Spirit’s infilling of the Jewish Remnant during the Day of the LORD). Come and learn more about Joel, the Pentecost Prophet.
