Director of Children & Family Ministry


DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN & FAMILY MINISTRY

The Director of Children and Family Ministry at Buffalo Covenant Church will partner with parents in the discipleship of the next generation, focusing on families that have children from birth through fifth grade. He or she will also champion their ministry as part of the larger mission of Buffalo Covenant Church: to glorify God by being disciples, who make disciples of Jesus Christ. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Spiritual and emotional maturity, with an intimate relationship with God through Jesus Christ. 
  2. Commitment to prayer and sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit.  
  3. Interpersonal skills that include a positive attitude, high personal integrity, excellent communication, the ability to gain trust and respect, an ability to mediate differences, and work well on a team. 
  4. Experience with volunteer management, including recruitment, training and coaching. 
  5. Possess training, education and experience to effectively lead. 
  6. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to teach.  
  7. Demonstrated vocational effectiveness in family ministry (i.e. Faith@Home/D6). 
  8. Complete support of Buffalo Covenant Church’s doctrinal statements:
    • Statement of Faith
    • Mission Statement and Core Values
    • Resolution on Sexuality and Marriage
  9. Gifting: Administration, Leadership, Encouragement

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Partner with parents in their child’s spiritual formation by providing resources and experiences that equip and encourage parents in their role as primary spiritual caregivers. 
  2. Develop, plan, promote, implement, and evaluate the church’s ministry to children, including but not limited to the following:
    • Sunday School
    • Awana 
    • Nursery and preschool ministries 
    • Vacation Bible School 
    • Annual Milestones 
    • Children’s musical productions and various other special events.
  3. Ensure, to the extent possible, a safe environment for children; physically, emotionally, and spiritually. 
  4. Recruit, train and coach volunteers for all levels in Children’s Ministry. 
  5. Seek new ways to be more effective in reaching and discipling children and their families. 
  6. Create and manage the Children’s Ministry budget. 
     

RELATIONSHIPS:

  1. Reports directly to the Executive Director while serving under the authority of the Lead Pastor.
  2. Leads Children’s Ministry support staff. 
  3. Work collaboratively with all church staff.
